Bovine bones are boiled to let the fat get off and leave the bone. After this they are bleached, customized and one-sided sanded.
Bones can be sawn, filed, sanded and glued the same as wood. But the glueing with wood and bone glue gets the risk that, if there are large temperature differences the key-tops can jump off. Therefor we offer a modern two-component adhesive (Art.Nr. 54-2230 Araldit).
The „special-thin“ bone quality has nearly no pores which has the advantage that no dirt can settle in. So every bone is inside porous, this quality is very seldom and because of this the most expensive one. The „ancient“ quality has got more pores. These can have slight differences in color and they can have glassy patches.
